The GEMS platform:

Gender medicine in medical education

“Gender Education in Medicine for Switzerland” (GEMS) is a joint project of several medical universities in Switzerland. It provides a web platform for the exchange of teaching materials on sex and gender in human medicine in order to promote their integration into the academic curriculum. The teaching materials are generously provided by teachers and researchers from the partner institutions. The project was implemented with the support of swissuniversities in the years 2021-2024.

Swiss Society for Gender Health

The Swiss Society for Gender Health SSGH was founded in September 2024. The SSGH is committed to the visibility of gender medicine and the integration of sex and gender in all areas of healthcare. The society emerged from the Swiss Gender Health Network (SGHN), which has existed for years as an informal association of around 180 people interested in gender medicine. The network played a key role in supporting the development of the GEMS platform.
